1924 – 2014

WATERVILLE — Sister Yvette Poulin, CSJ, formerly known as Sister Ste. Lucille, 89, died Tuesday, April 15, at Mount St. Joseph in Waterville.

She was born in Waterville on July 18, 1924, the daughter of Joseph and Emilia (Shank) Poulin. Sister attended Saint Francis de Sales School and Mount Merici Academy in Waterville. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Joseph College in Windham. She also pursued studies at l’Universite Catholique de Paris while she was in France.

Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Lyon in South Berwick in 1943. From 1945 to 1970, she taught at Holy Family School in Lewiston. Upon leaving Lewiston, Sister served as Provincial bookkeeper in Winslow.

Her last assignment was at the service of the retired priests at Mount St. Joseph in Waterville, where she was sacristan and supervisor of maintenance. She retired at Fontbonne Community, Mount St. Joseph in January 2007.

Sister is survived by one sister, Theresa Cote; a sister-in-law, Muriel Poulin, of Kentucky; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Gertrude Poulin and Lucille Breton; brothers, Alfred and Adrian Poulin; and brothers-in-law, Jean Paul Breton, Hubert Caron and Frederic Cote.

Sister Yvette was a joyful and prayerful woman who loved music, arts and crafts. The Eucharist was the center of her life.
