1925 – 2014
AUBURN — Richard J. Langelier, 89, of 74 Lake Auburn Ave. and formerly of 41 Mellon St., Lewiston, died at his home on Tuesday, April 15.
Born in Lewiston on March 25, 1925, he was the son of Odina and Marie Carrier Langelier. Educated in local schools, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe with the U.S. Army’s Office of Strategic Services. After the war, he returned to Maine and on June 15, 1946, married the former Helen Moyes; she passed away on April 6, 2007.
Prior to his retirement, he worked in construction for many years. A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, he also belonged to the American Legion and was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus. An avid reader, especially Westerns, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Robert and wife, Kathleen, of Turner; five daughters, Kathy Remillard of Auburn, Jane Castle and husband, Thomas, of Lewiston, Pat McKeen and husband, Richard, of Poland, Sue Langlois and husband, Joe, of Auburn and Ann Reiss and husband, Jeff, of Christmas, Fla.; a brother, Bert Langelier and wife, Mary, of Lewiston; two sisters, Germaine Blanchette and husband, Robert, of Lewiston and Theresa Langelier of Lewiston; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a son, Thomas; and a sister, Simone Albert.
