1938 – 2014

LORIS, S.C. — Robert “Bob” McAllister, 75, of Longs, S.C., and formerly of Otisfield, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 17, at McLeod Loris Hospital in South Carolina.

He was born in Norway on Sept. 16, 1938, to Raynold Sr. and Marion (Kimball) McAllister. He was a graduate of Norway High School, Class of 1956. Bob was married in Otisfield on April 20, 1957, to Jean Wiley.

Bob was in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1961, stationed in Goldsboro, N.C., and Anchorage, Alaska. Bob and his family moved to Otisfield, where he worked for L.M. Longley and Son, until starting Bob’s Plumbing and Heating in 1972; he retired in 1999.

Bob enjoyed golf, woodworking, snowmobiling and before emphysema robbed him of his breath, water-skiing, dancing and playing with his grandchildren. He loved a good joke and enjoyed telling many.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years and 362 days; his daughter, Patty and husband, Dave Duguay, of Byron; his son, Mike and wife, Elise, of Otisfield; his brother, Raynold Jr.; his sister, Kellie Allen; grandchildren, Jessica, Danielle, Katie and Angelia; and great-grandchildren, Krystin, Patrick, Hayden, Jayden, Hannah and Levi.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Phillip.
