1950 – 2014
RUMFORD – Mr. Stephen A. Carter, 63, died Friday, April 18, at his residence on the Andover Road in Rumford Center.
Born in Rumford on July 14, 1950. He was a son of Richard and Fern Lyndell (Cotton) Carter. He was a graduate of Telstar High School and spent much of his life as a self employed logger in the area.
Stephen was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed cooking and trying new foods. He also loved being “Pops” to his four grandchildren, teaching them to drive the tractor and playing with them in the pool.
Survivors include his companion, Donna Cambra of Rumford; two daughters, Milissa New and her husband, Derek, of Limerick and Caryn Cambra-Burgess and her husband, Christopher, of Waterboro; two brothers, Thomas of Bethel and Timothy and his wife, Jo-Ellen, of Bethel; a sister-in-law, Ann Carter of Oxford; four grandchildren, Syeira, Logan, Ella and Leia New; and many nieces and nephews that he truly loved and was very proud of.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, David.
