FARMINGDALE — Home runs by Hall-Dale’s Brian Allen and Taylor Lockhart erased a six-run Oak Hill lead, but the Raiders scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to squirm away with a 10-7 MVC baseball victory.

Allen’s grand slam was part of a five-run fifth, and Lockhart’s solo shot tied it with one out in the seventh.

But Oak Hill stormed back with singles by Adam Merrill, Jonah Martin and Brady Dion, the latter driving in two runs. Parker Asselin later plated Dion with a sacrifice fly.

Asselin entered the game after Allen’s blast off Jake Martin and held Hall-Dale to on run over the final three-plus frames to earn the win. Allen took the loss for Hall-Dale.

Dion, Merrill, Jake Bannister and Brandon Pomerleau each had two hits for Oak Hill. Starting pitcher Bobby Cumler had a pair of hits for Hall-Dale, including a double.

Jake Martin ripped a two-run triple in the second inning, staking Oak Hill to a 3-0 lead. It grew to 7-1 in the top of the fourth.

Hall-Dale 6, Oak Hill 4

FARMINGDALE — Hall-Dale scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning Monday and held on for a 6-4 victory over Oak Hill in the teams’ MVC softball opener.

Oak Hill errors and walks fueled Hall-Dale’s hefty frame. The Raiders responded with three runs in the fifth and another in the seventh, out-hitting the Bulldogs 11-6, but couldn’t overcome the daunting deficit.

Emily Maynard was 2-for-2 for Hall-Dale. Becca Ackerson picked up the pitching victory. Grace Sabine and Kelsey Collins each went 3-for-4 to lead Oak Hill, including a Sabine double.
