1918 – 2014

AUBURN — Marjorie Hodsdon, 95, formerly of Rumford, died Easter Sunday, April 20, with her family by her side at her residence at Schooner Estates.

She was born in Rumford on Nov. 13, 1918, the daughter of James and Carolyn (Gallant) Crawford, and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1936.

Marjorie worked at Oxford Paper Co. in Rumford for more than 25 years as a paper sorter in the main coated division, until her retirement in 1963.

Marjorie was a member of the 1918 Club and the Oxford Paper Co. 25-Year Club, as well as a member of Rumford United Methodist Church and was formerly very active in its Sunday school program.

She was the second wife of and was predeceased by her husband, Albert E. Hodsdon Jr., who died in Auburn on Dec. 2, 2007.

Survivors include a brother, James A. Crawford Jr., of Whittier, Calif.; a sister, Pauline Carver, of Wappinger Falls, N.Y.; stepdaughters, Mary Riek of Granby, Conn., and Margaret Ladd of Haverhill, N.H.; a stepson, Albert E. Hodsdon III, of Fairfield; and six stepgrandchildren and five great-stepgrandchildren.
