NORWAY — Every year the town of Norway is given a report on the status of bridges in town. Town Manager David Holt informed the selectboard last Thursday that there is one bridge in town that the state believed to be unsafe.

Reportedly, the bridge, located on Morse Road, have large rocks make up both the header and footer of the bridge. According Holt, the bridge has been around for a long time. A few years ago the town redid the bridge surface, but the state has found fault in the water flowing between the large rocks at the ends of the bridge.

Last year, Holt and Norway Police Chief Rob Federico and other members of the police department visited the bridge and inspected it, and claimed that the rocks have been that way for many years and that fixing the rocks would not be crucial.

There reportedly was no shifting of the rocks and Holt was told that it should be safe.

“I trust Rob [Federico] and it makes sense to me,” said Holt.
