1946 – 2014

VIENNA — Arnold D. Butterfield, 68, of Vienna, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 22, surrounded by his family after a long illness.

He was born in Vienna on Feb. 14, 1946, a son of John and Helmi Butterfield. Arnie attended school in Fairbanks and Vienna, and graduated from Farmington High School in 1964. He entered the U.S. Army National Guard and served until 1972. Arnie married Pamela Rackliff on June 30, 1973.

He worked for Livermore Shoe and G.H. Bass as a stitcher and machinist, and then for Cianbro as a millwright helper until his retirement due to ill health in 2007.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping, especially in Rangeley, Eustis and Dallas Plantation. Arnie also loved spending time during summers in Wayne at a family beach.

Arnie is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pam; two sisters, Dottie Danforth and husband, Allan, of Farmington and Ann Kay and husband, Roger, of Industry; two brothers, John Butterfield and wife, Kathy, of Farmington and Bernard “Bub” Predham and wife, Maurine, of Camden and their families; brothers-in-law, Butch Rackliff and wife, Sharon, Kenneth Rackliff and wife, Laurie, Rodney Rackliff, Peter Rackliff and wife, Jen, and Jeff Rackliff and wife, Jeanie; mother-in-law, Florence Hastings; father-in-law, Herschel Rackliff Sr. and wife, Geri; special friends, Ken and Barb Roy; sons of the heart, Christopher Rackliff and his significant other, Myriah, Bill Rackliff and wife, Erica, and their children, Alex and Tyler, and Jake Rackliff and his fiancée, Kat; and special nieces and nephews, Brianna, Michael, Loren, Nathaniel, Megan, Joey, Sam and Nick.

He was predeceased by his parents and his stepfather, Bernard Predham.
