1925 – 2014

LEWISTON — Gabrielle C. Provencher, 89, a resident of Auburn, passed away peacefully at Marshwood Center on Wednesday, April 23.

She was born in Auburn on Feb. 5, 1925, a daughter of the late George and Adrienne Lemieux Cote.

She lived in Auburn all her life, attended St. Louis’ Catholic School and graduated from Edward Little High School, with the Class of 1941. She married Bertrand L. Provencher in 1950 at St. Louis Church in Auburn.

Gabrielle worked many years in the law office of Peter Issacson and at Ward Bros., and was an office manager at local shoe shops and heel factories. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Auburn and of the New Auburn Senior Citizens.

She especially enjoyed spending every summer weekend at the family camp in Leeds.

Gabrielle is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bertrand Provencher; her brother, Richard Cote; nieces, Terri Bureau, Sherry Morneau, Donna St. Pierre and Doris Auger; and nephews, Gary Asselin, Ronald Goulet and Robert Goulet.

She was predeceased by her two sisters, Gertrude Goulet and Gloria Asselin; and her brother, Roger Cote.

The family thanks the staff at Marshwood Center and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the loving care they gave her.
