OLD TOWN – Waterfront Concert tickets, a work party by Old Town Rotarians, a family membership to the Old Town-Orono YMCA, and a Mystery Dinner for 8 hosted by Joe and Sue Cyr are just a few of the items that will be up for bid at the Old Town Rotary Club’s annual charity auction this year, which will be held today, Thursday May 01from 5-9 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 6 Gilman Falls Avenue.
The club expects to have 60 to 75 auction items, including a wide variety of merchandise, handcrafted items, services, and vacation and recreation opportunities. Proceeds will benefit “Sarah’s House”—a home-away-from-home for cancer patients receiving treatment at Cancer Care of Maine—The Animal Orphanage, Maine’s Youth Fish & Game Association, and other Rotary charities.
The evening will start with a prime rib or chicken dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. The live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end by 8:30 p.m. The celebrity auctioneer will be Maine Secretary of State Matt Dunlap. In addition to the live auction, there will be a silent auction, a variety of door prizes, and a bingo-type card game.
The cost is $14 per person in advance of 4/25, $16 after. Tickets are available at Gossamer Press in Old Town, at the door, or from any Old Town Rotarian.
Also available for auction will be food items from Rotarians or friends of Rotary, including a “Delicious Dessert,” “Scrumptious Sweets,” a “Lip-Smacking Treat,” a “Palate Pleasing Pie,” and others.
