ORONO – Area motorcycling enthusiasts are invited to an annual Blessing of the Bikes ceremony at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 3 at the Friend & Friend dealership, 29 Stillwater Avenue.
Pastor Aaron Martin of the Winterport Baptist Church will officiate the free event, which is sponsored by STAR Chapter 483, Bangor area, a family-oriented non-profit chapter of the international Yamaha STAR Touring and Riding Association. Chapter 483 comprises motorcycling enthusiasts of all ages riding any motorcycle make and model.
Preceding the non-denominational events will be a coffee and doughnut social event at 9 a.m. at the blessing. Members of the motorcycling community can meet STAR 483 members and learn about the camaraderie, riding safety classes and both scheduled and impromptu rides to many of Maine’s most scenic destinations, along some of the state’s most scenic back roads and highways. A group ride from Orono to Ellsworth will commence following the Orono event. A noon blessing and barbecue will be held in Ellsworth.
