1936 – 2014
WEST PARIS — Robert C. (Bob) Johnson, 77, of West Paris, died Saturday, April 26. Bob was peacefully sleeping and unexpectedly went to join the others in heaven.
He was born in Dixfield, Dec. 23, 1936, the son of Clare and Blanche Candage Johnson. They moved around, but always came back to this area. At nine-years-old he had the old fashioned measles. He had “post encephalitis,” which is brain damage due to having a high fever during the measles. He shook uncontrollably, and, in 1963, he had experimental brain surgery. It helped, and he had the other side done, but surgeons hit a speech nerve. The shaking eased, but it was hard for him to talk.
Most of his life, he was disabled….Bob? He didn’t know what disabled meant! He worked many jobs and was always quite the prankster! R.I.P.
He married Brenda Nash in 1956, and they had a son, John. In 1961, he met and married Sylvia Hammond. She had three girls, and he was one of the best things that ever happened to them. They continued to move all over the area, and after she passed, he moved into a home beside Dennis and Nancy Henderson at Trap Corner, one mile from John and Cindy.
Bob will be sadly missed by his close friend Joanne Kimball; children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; his passengers from Community Concepts; his brother, George and his wife, Shirley; and several nieces and nephews.
