Seniors to have meeting, dinner

BETHEL — The Bethel Senior Citizens Club will hold a meeting and dinner at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Roosters Roadhouse.

The menu choice is Yankee pot roast or baked stuffed haddock. Cost is $13.

Reservations must be made before Thursday, May 1, by calling Arlene Lowell at 824-2877.

The Hills Are Alive With Music …  Again

PARIS — The “Hills Alive Chorale” will again make music this spring. Having been on hiatus for a time, the group is re-forming for an eight-week spring rehearsal schedule and performance.

Under the continued direction of director Dan Allen and again accompanied by Faye Hill, the first rehearsal will be held at the First Congo Church at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 5, in the sanctuary upstairs.

The group is non-auditioned. Requirements are a willingness to take direction, learn and, most importantly, have fun as that is the cornerstone of a successful endeavor. The program will be diversified. Simply show up or call 743-6001.

Deering Memorial free breakfasts

PARIS — Deering Memorial United Methodist Church continues to host free community breakfasts from 8 to 9 a.m. each Sunday.

Each week a breakfast team serves up a homemade hot breakfast. The menu changes weekly, with some of the most popular recipes featured such as baked stuffed French toast, homemade cinnamon rolls, egg casseroles, home fries and pancakes. There is always cereal, toast, coffee, juice and fruit.

Organizers welcome help or donations of breakfast supplies. A free will offering is taken for anyone wishing to donate toward the cost of the breakfast.

Clothing center open Saturdays

HARTFORD —  The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3 and 17. The center is located across from the church.

Yard sale to benefit Smile Fund

BETHEL — West Parish Congregational Church, UCC, will hold its annual yard sale to benefit the Smile Fund from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3.

The fund aids those who are in need of restorative dental work and lack the financial resources to undertake treatment.

Bargain items will include toys, books, household items and plants. The church is located on Church Street.

Roast turkey dinner at church

PARIS — A roast turkey dinner with all the fixings will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Deering Memorial Methodist Church, 39 Main St.Dessert will be apple crisp with ice cream.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Parking is available behind the library and town office.
