RUMFORD — Envision Rumford! will hold its annual spring cleanup of Rumford Island, starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 3, member Tammi Lyons said.
“I’m not sure if anyone did it prior to the Envision Rumford! group, but I know that this is the second year we’ve done it,” Lyons said. “Last year, we had some members of a youth group from St. John’s help, along with some River Valley Rotary Club members.”
Chores include washing the windows of Congress Street businesses, cleaning up garbage on the streets and sidewalks, sweeping, and installing potted plants and flowers. Mulch was donated to the group by Maine Made Furniture/Premium Log Yards Inc., and the family of Clint Bradbury.
“We feel this is a good way to clean up downtown Rumford and get it looking nice for the Lumberjack festival,” Lyons said.
Lyons said anyone interested in donating flowers, potted plants or other cleaning materials are welcome to do so.
