PARIS — Budget Committee members are expected to finalize recommendations on the town’s $7.1 million 2014-2015 budget at the committee’s meeting Wednesday.
Town officials have managed to trim almost $33,500 in municipal spending from last year, but the town is still looking at a slight tax hike, driven by increases in the Oxford Hills School District budget.
Town spending accounts for $4.13 million of the expenses included in the budget, while payments to the school district and Oxford County make up $2.96 million in expenses.
A draft warrant for the June 14 town meeting warrant was approved by selectmen Monday evening. The warrant will include funding recommendations from both selectmen and the Budget Committee.
Town Manager Amy Bernard on Tuesday said Budget Committee members wanted to act on the actual town meeting warrant, rather than budget reports generated by Town Office budget software.
Having selectmen review and authorize the draft ensures that both town bodies are on the same page, she explained.
The Budget Committee meets at the Town Office on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Selectmen are expected to make their own recommendations on the proposed budget at a meeting in May.
