1933 – 2014

AUBURN — Richard L. LeBlond, 81, of 526 Minot Ave., Auburn, peacefully joined the Lord after a long illness on Thursday, April 24, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice in Auburn.

Born in Auburn on Jan. 24, 1933, he was a son of Armand and Gaitane Roy LeBlond. Educated in Auburn schools, he served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. On May 30, 1956, he married the love of his life, the former Henrietta Poirier.

Dick was employed as a roofer for 20 years, working for St. Hilaire Roofing and Water Proofing and then worked at BIW for 16 years, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, riding his lawnmower and camping at Taylor Pond for over 30 years.

Besides his loving wife of Auburn, he is survived by a sister, Rita Dube, of Lewiston; two brothers, Normand and wife, Christa, of Germany and Robert and wife, Linda, of Portland, Ore.; a brother-in-law, Bertrand Poirier and wife, Lorraine, of Auburn; and many special nieces and nephews, including a grandniece, Stacy Fuegen Ramirez, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and nephew, Jim Irish, of Auburn, who was there to help whenever we needed him — day or night.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Marcel; and two sisters, Armande Erskin and Lorraine Boisvert.

Dick will be sadly missed by his wife, Henrietta, who would like to send a very special thank-you to the staff of the VA nursing home in South Paris and the Hospice House in Auburn for all the care they gave Dick during his final illness.
