LEWISTON – Margaret F. Aleck, 91, of Franklin Street, Rumford, died Thursday, May 1, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with her loving family by her side.

She was born in the town of Mexico on January 16, 1923, a daughter of Robert and Jessie (Whitton) Fisher, and graduated from Mexico High School Class of 1940.

She worked for the Mexico Water District for many years and later at Oxford Paper Company in Rumford for over 10 years until retirement from the Payroll Department in 1981.

She was a member of the Mexico Congregational Church where she had been very active and in later years was very active with the food pantry and church missionary projects.

Of all Margaret’s accomplishments, she will be most remembered as being a true friend to all that knew her throughout her entire life.

She was married in Mexico on June 24, 1950, to Charles C. Aleck who has predeceased her.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Brewer, and her husband, Willi,s of Halifax, Vt.; son Charles “Chuck” Aleck and wife, June, of Rangeley; a sister Katherine Wiken of Tennessee; granddaughters Michelle Podsiedlik and her husband, Jonathan, Lisa Mussoni and her husband, James, Tami Deblois and her husband, Thomas, and Laurie Brewer; and several great-grandchildren.

Per Margaret’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, those who desire may contribute to the Mexico Congregational Church, Main Street, Mexico, ME 04257 in her memory.
