DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have Time Warner for my TV carrier, and I watch EWTN. Could you find out if it is available on other networks? It is something that comes up in conversation sometimes.

You are most appreciated. When did Sun Spots first start? — No Name, No Town

ANSWER: Sun Spots is not sure what you mean by “other networks”? Cable is basically a monopoly, and Time Warner is the only provider in Lewiston-Auburn. You can, however, get satellite TV, and EWTN is available on Dish and DirecTV.

You can also watch or listen to programming at www.ewtn.com

Perhaps you are having trouble finding EWTN? Time Warner has been reorganizing its channel lineup. Those with computers can go to the online channel guide at http://tinyurl.com/mupgppj

According to that guide, in the Lewiston area EWTN is at 675 for HD (high definition) or 58 for SD (standard definition).

As for the history of Sun Spots, according to Sue, who is mostly retired from the Sun Journal but still fills in for vacations, Sun Spots began after she joined the Daily Sun in 1965, but she’s not sure of the exact date. It was up and running in the 1970s.

There have only been a few “Sun Spots,” probably less than 10. Your current correspondent has been writing it since September 2009.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: First, I love all the information we receive from you. Keep it up.

There is some construction happening on Sabattus Street, next to the Engine 4 Fire Station. Would you know what will be going in there? I have heard that the Market Basket will be coming to Lewiston in the near future and was wondering if this might be the place.

Also, some time ago I read that Luiggi’s was buying the old Graziano restaurant in Lisbon. I know that it has been torn down, but there has not been any activity there at all. I think I saw a for-sale sign on the corner. Do you have any knowledge of when or if Luiggi’s will still be building there?

Thanks for all you do. — No Name, Sabattus

ANSWER: The Sun Journal had a recent story by reporter Dan Hartill about both a Family Dollar and a Dollar General planned for Sabattus Street (you can read his story at http://tinyurl.com/l9ujmzb). Looking at the address numbers, it is probably the Family Dollar you see being built.

As for Luiggi’s moving into the old Graziano’s, Sun Spots wasn’t able to obtain a comment on that possibility.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Since you have a fine knack for finding people, places and things and answering a myriad of questions, I am appealing to you for help. There used to be a place on Academy Street in Auburn called the Share Center, where people could take many types of items they no longer needed but were too good to throw away. Others could go there and browse around and take anything they could use.

I think I remember that they moved from Academy Street, but I do not know where they are now located — if they do still exist. The number in the phonebook is no longer in service, and directory assistance had nothing either. Can you help? Many thanks. — June, Auburn, junesp@roadrunner.com

ANSWER: There is still a SHAREcenter, but Sun Spots is not sure if it is the same one you remember. She regularly receives requests from them, most recently in March (http://tinyurl.com/moreh6k). That letter was signed by Pat Pelliccia. She provide a phone number, 333-6671, and email, sharecenter@auburnschl.edu. They also have a Facebook page at auburnsharecenter.
