KENNEBUNK — Constance Bearce Rogers, of Wonderbrook Drive in Kennebunk and formerly of Auburn, passed away peacefully in Kennebunk on Saturday, May 3.

Connie was born in Lewiston on Nov. 29, 1921, the daughter of Beatrice and Laurence Bearce. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School and Gorham Normal School. Connie was held with the deepest love and respect by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

She married William J. Rogers in Corpus Christi, Texas, in June 1942, and they celebrated 63 years of marriage until Bill’s passing in May 2008. Right after their marriage, they left for California, where Bill completed flight training with the U.S. Navy. At the end of World War II, she and Bill returned to Maine to begin their civilian life. During Bill’s career, Connie established homes for her family, not only in Maine, but in New York and Virginia.

In 1976, Bill was elected national commander of the American Legion. During his tenure, Connie and Bill traveled extensively throughout the world.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Rogers Banks and her husband, Bill, of Kennebunk; sons, William Jr. of Selah, Wash., and Peter and wife, Kristine, of Yarmouth; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son, David Bearce Rogers, in 2011.
