Answering a simple phone call or text while driving a vehicle could kill you. Many people have already died from accidents while texting or calling when driving.

Maine has banned texting while driving because there have been so many deaths and injuries.

According to a study by the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis, there are more than 330,000 injuries each year in the United States attributed to texting and driving. Also, in a report by the Institute of Highway Safety, there are 11 deaths every day caused by teens texting and driving in the United States.

People don’t realize how just answering a simple phone call could change lives forever. Texting while driving could even kill somebody else. For example, a little boy could be chasing his ball across the street and be killed by an unattentive driver.

According to psychologytoday.com, 23 percent of all car accidents in the U.S. are caused by a person texting while driving — that’s how deadly checking a phone while driving can be.

There are so many ads on TV for texting while driving because this is an easily solved problem. Texting while driving is unsafe, puts everyone at risk, and is against the law in Maine.
