DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am building an additional storage cabinet for our 1939-40 kitchen and am in need of some old 1- by 4-inch beaded v-match boards.

Local sources do not carry vintage material, and special orders are costly. Perhaps a demo company or someone renovating may have what I need?

You are a great source for those of us in need. — Doug Rogers, 782-0980

ANSWER: In light of your letter being delivered in person to the newsroom, Sun Spots guesses you are not a computer person, but it could be a good place to look. Her first hit had what you need, albeit in Texas. You could check eBay or place an ad on Craigslist (free).

You might also try the two local companies that resell used building materials: Habitat for Humanity (1967 Lisbon Road, Lewiston, 786-2598) or Buildings Material Exchange (102 Lisbon Road, Lisbon, 636-7670, www.mainebme.org).

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In the Franklin section of the April 16 Sun Journal, there was a story about Sunny Hill apartments. It was stated that it is the only rental building in town with elevators.

I live at the complex near Ticomb Hill on the Anson Street extension. The last two buildings both have elevators, and I’m sure the new building opening this season across from the hospital will have at least one elevator. — Vivian Kennedy, Farmington

ANSWER: Reporter Ann Bryant said you are obviously correct, that the Titcomb Hill senior complex does have elevators. Ann was quoting William Marceau, who said that, and she failed to note the error.

Ann said the new complex across from the hospital with elevators is also one of Marceau’s ventures but is not open yet.
