Stratton. Maine. . . . The Dead River Area Historical Society will sponsor a Walk- A-Thon on Saturday May 17th

School parking lot going along School Street and turning around at the site of the Old Dump 2 miles away and returning to the school parking lot. This will be a fun and fit activity for all ages from kindergartners through senior citizens. Drinks and snacks will be provided at each mile marker along the way. The May 20th Walk-A-Thon was called off because of rain. And wouldn’t you know after it was called off the sun came out. Hope for good weather on the 17th

This year our goal is to tar the museum driveway which accumulates more grass each year. We actually have to mow the driveway and be careful not to break windows from rocks hurling from the mower. It was Tommy MacDonald’s wish to get the driveway surfaced. Grants have been written over the years with no success. A Driveway Account will be started from the proceeds at the Skowhegan Savings Bank . It may take a few years and many fund raisers but we will Get it Done.

We hope you will participate in the Walk-A-Thon and help us reach our goal. The more pledges raised the more successful we’ll be at achieving our goal. Thank you very much for your participation.

1. Pledge sheets can be picked up at Pine’s Market, Northland Cash, Fotter’s Market, and Flagstaff Fuel and they need to be turned in at the Walk-A-Thon on Saturday May 10th

2. For the safety of smaller participants, we ask no running or jogging, only walking.
