1929 – 2014

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Joan Knobel, 84, of Sabattus, passed away Friday, May 9.

She was born Joan Purdy on Nov. 28, 1929, in Rochester, N.Y., to Walter W. and Elizabeth (Kennedy) Purdy.

The beloved wife of the late Maj. William H. Knobel, USMC, Joan is survived by her children, David, Glen, Michael, Marc and Amy; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Many will miss Joan’s kindness, hot fudge sauce, cakes, cookies, handwritten letters and welcoming Irish eyes and smile.
