1918 – 2014

LEWISTON — Mildred E. Diringis, 95, formerly of 113 King Ave., Lewiston, died Tuesday, May 13, at Montello Manor.

She was born at Kinmundy, Alberta, Canada, on Sept. 8, 1918, a daughter of the late John Edward Pelkey and Nina Violet Mitchell. She was educated in Lewiston schools and was married on Oct. 12, 1941, to Annison Diringis; he predeceased her on May 24, 1990. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a sales clerk at B. Peck & Co. department store.

Millie dearly loved her church and was a longtime member of North Monmouth Full Gospel Assembly. She was also very active in local organizations, including Liberty Rebecca Lodge No. 94 of Auburn, Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant of Maine, past noble grand of Androscoggin County, Pythian Sisters Elva Young Temple No. 33 of Brunswick, the Busy Bees of Poland and was president of the Womens’ Council of Full Gospel Tabernacle of Auburn.

She is survived by her daughter, Lois Proctor, of Lisbon; three grandchildren, Wendy Martel of Pennsylvania, Trevor Proctor of Lisbon and Tracy Proctor of Lewiston; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Bilodeau of Auburn and Dorothy Voter of Nebraska; her very close friends and caregivers, Tom and Sherrie Alward of Readfield; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; and two sisters, Beatrice Beck and Norma Hopkins.
