HARTFORD — Selectmen on Thursday night signed the warrant for the annual town meeting and scheduled a hearing on it for 6 p.m. June 5 at the Town Hall.

If all money articles pass, the 2014-15 budget will be $2.26 million. This year’s budget is $2.12 million.

The annual town meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Town Hall.

Arthur Harvey reported on a Planning Board hearing on the state’s amended shoreland zoning law. To be accepted, 252 of the 336 municipalities must approve.

Resident Morrill Nason said he favored using the state regulations because they could be enforced.

The board will study the law more before putting it on a town meeting warrant.

In other business, it was agreed that people whose property has been foreclosed on for unpaid taxes can not remove items to raise money to pay their bill.

One person wanted to remove gravel from their foreclosed property to pay taxes owed. The board voted to allow the resident to make partial payments until all taxes were paid, then a quitclaim deed would be issued.

The board announced there will be a public hearing on the RSU 10 budget at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Buckfield Junior-Senior High School. A budget validation meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Dirigo High School in Dixfield. A budget validation referendum will be held Tuesday, June 10, at the polls in each district town.

Selectmen reviewed a permit approved by the Planning Board for a 28- by 40-foot double-wide trailer for Warren and Amy Shaw on Berry Road.
