POLAND — Motorists traveling between Poland and Casco on Route 11 will be detoured at Leach Road on Tuesday, May 20, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. while a culvert is replaced.

The detour is 14 miles long, according to information from the Department of Transportation. Route 11 will be closed from Quaker Ridge Road to Leach Hill Road, which is close to Hancock Lumber. The project location is just east of the Leach Road.

“It really needs to get done. There’s no putting this one off or you’ll be swimming across the road,” Maine DOT Public Information Officer Ted Talbot said.

Motorists heading north on Route 11 will travel the approximately 14-mile detour route from Route 302 to Route 121 then back to Route 11. Talbot suggested people look at a map to see if there are shorter routes.

Message boards and detour signs are currently in place for this one-day project.
