RUMFORD — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Robert Gardner was celebrated at noon on Monday at Parish of the Holy Savior.

The Rev. Antonio Amato was the celebrant, Bernie Poirier was the altar server and Nick Puiia was the organist. Music selections were “Be Not Afraid,” “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art” and “Let There Be Peace On Earth.” The Old Testament was proclaimed by grandson, Matt Gormley, and the New Testament was proclaimed by granddaughter, Carrie Gardner-Benik. Offertory gifts were presented by daughters, Georgie Gormley, Cindy Bernard and Shelly Fergola. Personal reflections of the family were shared by his son, Robert Gardner.

Interment will be in Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons, Robert Gardner, Arthur Gardner, Roger Gardner, Michael Gardner and Mark Gardner.

A reception was served by the Daughters of Isabella in the parish hall. Services were under the care and guidance of S.G. Thibault Funeral Home, 250 Penobscot St., Rumford.
