BUCKFIELD — The Buckfield Fire-Rescue Station Project Committee will meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at the Municipal Building to develop a bid list for items that could be added if there’s enough money.
Last year, voters approved spending $1 million to build an 80- by 100-foot station next to the Municipal Building on Route 117. It will replace the 60-year-old station.
The original design called for an 8,000-square-foot station, including seven vehicle bays and rooms for offices, bunks, training, storage and a kitchen. Emergency vehicles will still enter and exit the building onto Main Street.
During a selectmen meeting May 6, the board was informed that the size of the station would have to be reduced to 7,000 square feet to stay within the $1 million budget.
Town Manager Cindy Dunn said Tuesday morning that the town had already published bidding notices for the fire-rescue station. The committee plans to craft a bid list during Wedneday’s meeting.
