DIXFIELD — Tyler Frost scattered six hits in six innings, struck out 10 and walked none as Dirigo shut down Mountain Valley, 6-1, in an MVC baseball tilt Wednesday.

Nick Hall led the Cougars (12-3) with two hits and one RBI, while Jack Brown belted an RBI single in the first frame.

Caleb Gauvin paced the Falcons (4-11) with a pair of hits.

Poland 9, Fryeburg 3

POLAND — Shawn Murphy gave up three hits in five innings and drew ample and early run support, as Poland raced way to post a 9-3 win over Fryeburg.

Corey Cunliffe led the Knights (11-3) with a two-run single, while Murphy helped his own cause with a pair of hits and one RBI. Poland erupted for six runs in the third to put the game out of reach.

Spruce Mountain 5, Telstar 2

LIVERMORE FALLS — Junior Dylan Smith made his pitching debut, striking out seven batters and had a key RBI double in Spruce Mountain’s three-run fourth inning, as the Phoenix knocked off Telstar, 5-2, in a baseball game Wednesday.

The score was tied at 2-2 after two innings before the Phoenix (6-9) erupted with three runs in the fourth. Brandon Stearns had three hits and two RBIs for Spruce Mountain. Lucas Preble had two hits for the Falcons.

For Telstar (1-11), Nick Conrad and Josh Eliot had two hits apiece.

Softball

Telstar 13, Spruce Mountain 2

JAY — Jessica Dirago gave up two hits, struck out 13 and walked two as Telstar overpowered Spruce Mountain 13-2 in MVC softball action Wednesday.

Dirago helped the Rebels’ (9-4) cause with a pair of hits, while Sadie Ellsworth and Becca Howard each pounded out two hits.

The Phoenix (7-8) were paced by Grace Ryan with a two-run single in the third frame. Emily Keene allowed seven hits and walked eight batters in seven innings of work.

Lisbon 12, St. Dom’s 9

AUBURN — Kailyn Hill scattered five hits in seven innings and drew ample run support, as Lisbon hustled to a 12-9 victory over St. Dom’s.

Kate Philbrick and Monica Austin led the Greyhounds (5-10) with two hits apiece.

The Saints (2-12) utilized Johanna Cullenberg in the circle for the entire contest.

Poland 8, Fryeburg 4

POLAND — Michaella Arsenault had three RBIs as Poland trotted to an 8-4 victory over Fryeburg in softball action Wednesday.

The Knights (8-7) struck early when Madison Simard plated the first run on a double and Lindsay Theriault plated another with a groundout.

After pushing across three runs in the top of the fourth, the Raiders trailed by just two. But, Poland responded with three more in the bottom of the sixth and never looked back.

Messalonskee 7, EL 2

AUBURN — Junior right fielder Kristy Preglovisk provided two runs on two hits and an RBI to lead Messalonskee to a 7-2 victory over Edward Little in KVAC softball action Wednesday.

The Red Eddies (8-4) remained competitive through four innings when a 2-2 tie went downhill. The Eagles (9-4) waxed five runs in the top of the fifth frame.

Senior center fielder Kennedy Hubbard collected three hits for the Red Eddies.

Pitcher Kassi Michaud fanned 10 batters to earn the mound win for Messalonskee.

Boys’ lacrosse

Mt. Blue 7, Mountain Valley 6

FARMINGTON — Liam Welch booted the game-winning goal in overtime as Mt. Blue notched a 7-6 victory over Mountain Valley in boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday.

Chris Bourret scored three goals and an assist for the Falcons, and Casey Taylor collected three goals for the Cougars.

Sam Taylor tallied a pair of goals and assists for Mt. Blue.

Goalie Coyote Freeman made seven saves for Mountain Valley, while goalie Leo Flannery prevented 10 for Mt. Blue.

Girls’ lacrosse

Lewiston 15, EL 3

AUBURN — Kristina Blais tallied four goals Wednesday to lead Lewiston to a 15-3 rout over Twin Cities rival Edward Little in KVAC girls’ lacrosse action at Walton Field.

Laurianne Murphy and Jess Cote each registered hat tricks for the Blue Devils (6-4), while Mikaela St. Laurent scored twice. Allison Frechette, Sierra Thistlewaite and Hailey Lebel also tallied to complete the scoring for the Blue Devils.

Francesca Haines netted all three goals for the Red Eddies.
