1932 – 2014

AUBURN — Raymond Lapierre, 81, of Auburn, passed away Friday afternoon, May 23, at his home, following a long illness, with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 23, 1932, a son of the late Edgar and Dorothy (Berube) Lapierre. He grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools. Raymond was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He also worked for several years as a hand sewer for Billing Shoe.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 153 in New Auburn and will always be remembered for being a very hard worker, a great family provider, having a great sense of humor and always being ready to tell a good joke. Ray enjoyed camping in his younger years and following the Red Sox.

He is survived by his three children, Michael and Gerald Lapierre of Lewiston and Theresa Lapierre of Georgia. He also leaves behind his six grandchildren, Courtney, Chad, Ashley, Shayla, Morgan and Dylan.

He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline; two sons, Robert and Richard Lapierre; two brothers, Tony and Roger; and a sister, Yolande.
