MERCER — The Sandy River Ramblers, an accoustic Americana/bluegrass band that specializes in songs about Maine, will perform at the Mercer Community Center at 7 p.m., on Saturday, May 31. The concert will be followed by a jam session. the Ramblers are looking forward to playing and singing songs with any local musicians who want to bring their guitars, mandolins and fiddles to the show.
Band leader Stan Keach says, “We love this venue, and the crowd here was really warm and supportive last time.” Keach, a nationally-known Americana and Bluegrass songwriter, will showcase songs about Donn Fendler, the North Pond Hermit, moose, loons, and bears.
The Ramblers feature three-part vocal harmony, and the instrumental virtuosity of Dan Simons (mandolin), Bud Godsoe (banjo) and Max Silverstein (fiddle). Keach, his wife Liz, and Julie Churchill, are the featured vocalists.
The Ramblers always feature comedy as a big part of the show. “We do a lot of serious songs, too,” says banjoist Godsoe.
The concert is sponsored by the Mercer Community Club, which will have delicious refreshments for sale. Donations will be accepted at the door. The Mercer Community Center (the old Mercer Elementary School) is at 1015 Beech Hill Road, Route 2. For more information, call Stan at (207) 397-2241.
