1929 – 2014

SOUTH PARIS — Rowena Cummings Dunham, 85, of West Paris and formerly of Greenwood died Friday, May 30, at Market Square, South Paris, after a long illness.

She was born in North Paris on May 13, 1929, the daughter of Archie “Rowe” Cummings and Ethel May (Garey) Cummings. She was educated in Albany and Bethel schools and had worked for 30 years at Echo-Tebbets (Gilbert Manufacturing). 

Rowena had been active with the Woodstock-Greenwood Senior Citizens and the Jackson-Silver Post 68 Legion Aux having served in many offices, and was a member of the Locke Mills Union Church having served as a deaconess and active in the Ladies Circle. Rowena loved the outdoors and especially loved being with her family.

She is survived by seven sons, Joseph Hebert and wife, Pamela, of Greenwood, Paul Hebert and wife, Kathy, of Bethel, Anthony Hebert and wife, Ruthy, of West Paris, Donald Hebert of Greenwood, Brian Dunham and wife, Suzanne, of Greenwood, Gary Dunham and wife, Kathleen, of Maryland, and Alan Dunham of New York;  six daughters, Dolores “Dolly” Olson and her companion, Gilman Tuell, of Woodstock, Crystal Lake and husband, Albert, of Greenwood, Jeannine Wing and husband, Gary, of Bryant Pond, Marilyn Howe and husband, Charles, of Oxford, Theresa Koskela and husband, Kenneth, of West Paris, and Debra Dunham of Greenwood; one sister, Amy Scribner of Oxford; a half-sister, Alice Ziplow of Virginia; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter; brother-in-law, Edwin Howe of Bryant Pond; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Cummings of West Paris; as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Rowena was predeceased by her husband, Herbert E. Dunham, on May 27, 2009; three sisters, Lillian Sowersby, Betsy Wilson and Evelyn Baker; and three brothers, Roenell Cummings, Benton Cash and Anson Lindly.
