MONMOUTH — Brandon Goff doubled and had four hits for the day while winning pitcher Kyle Fletcher came in the fifth and held down the fort as Monmouth (15-1) shook off Oak Hill with (13-3) in an 8-5 victory in MVC baseball action Monday.

The score was tied 3-3 after four innings before the Mustangs rattled off five runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Monmouth had 13 hits for the day, with Alex Curtis, catcher Phil Rowe and B.J. McHugh each earning two hits.

For Oak Hill, Brady Dion tripled and Dalton Therrien had two hits.

Erskine 13, Leavitt 4

SOUTH CHINA — Five repeat hitters for Erskine proved to be enough, as the Eagles ran past Leavitt in a 13-4 baseball match-up on Monday.

Caleb Cummings, Ryan Rodrique, Tyler Bailey, Nathan Martin and Zachary Childs led the offense attack, belting a total of 10 hits among them. Rodrique recorded the win on the mound for the Eagles, as they move to an even 8-8 to wrap up their season.

Julian Kirouac notched the only extra base hit for Leavitt, a triple, as they move to 6-9 on the season.

Hampden 5, Edward Little 4

AUBURN —  A balanced offensive attack aided a sixth-inning rally for Hampden Acadamey, as they snuck past Edward Little, 5-4, in a close scoring KVAC tilt Monday.

Freshman Casey Sudbeck went the distance on the mound for the Broncos (6-10), while four hitters recorded two hits. Senior Michael Ward led the Hampden offense with a double and a single on the day.

Edward Little (7-9) tacked on three runs in response to the Hampden rally, but came up short in the final frame. Drew Lashua notched the lone extra base hit for the Red Eddies with a double.

Brewer 4, Lewiston 3

LEWISTON — Lewiston’s seventh inning rally just fell short in the 4-3 loss to the Brewer Witches Monday afternoon.

With the bases loaded with Blue Devils (8-8) Kyle Ullrich knocked in all three of his teammates to cut the deficit down to one. The Blue Devills weren’t able to drive in Ullrich, who was the potential tying run.

Matt Pushard went the distance for Brewer and also had two hits at the plate along with teammates Galan Williamson and Logan Rogerson. Brewer (6-10) picked up single runs in the third, fourth, fifth and seven inning.

Matt Poulin went the distance for Lewiston allowing ten hits.

Oxford Hills 10, Mt. Ararat 0

TOPSHAM — Matt Beauchesne had a field day at the plate, smacking three hits and batting in four runs, as Oxford Hills routed Mt. Ararat for a 10-0 victory.

Ty Martin chipped in three hits for the Vikes as well, while Riley Chickering ripped a pair of doubles.

Walter Feeney allowed no earned runs through five innings on the mound while striking out seven batters. Oxford Hills (10-5), closed out the game with pitchers Blake Slicer and William Frank in the sixth and seventh inning, respectively.

Winthrop 10, St. Dom’s 0

WINTHROP — A fifth inning rally gave Winthrop momentum as it rolled to a strong 10-0 victory over St. Dom’s in MVC baseball action on Monday.

The scoreboard remained clean through four innings until Winthrop added three and seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings, respectively. Mario Meucci led the offense attack with a triple and a single for the Ramblers (9-6). Ben Allen recorded his first win on the mound, allowing just four hits in a complete game performance.

Caleb Dostie collected two of the Saints’ (12-4) four hits on the day.

Softball

Oxford Hills 6, Mt. Ararat 2

TOPSHAM — Oxford Hills used an 11-hit attack and opened up a 5-0 lead after three innings as the Vikings (11-1) sideswiped Mt. Ararat with a 6-2 victory in KVAC softball action Monday.

Crystal West went six innings and got the win on the mound for Oxford Hills. Shannon Fillebrown, Savanna Morin, Anna Winslow and Erin Morton all had two hits for the Falcons.

For Mt. Ararat, Sara Lamb tripled and had three hits and Devon Hutchins tripled.

Hampden 4, Edward Little 2

AUBURN — Hampden found a way to score in a game that went into extra innings, as the Broncos held on to a 4-2 victory over Edward Little in KVAC softball action.

Pitcher Mikala Leland came on in relief in the second inning to finish out the game and pick up the win. Cassie Bean kept the offense rolling, scattering two hits from the plate for the Broncos (7-9). Danny Rock and Kennedy Hubbard chipped in a pair of hits for the Red Eddies (9-7).

Erskine 6, Leavitt 0

SOUTH CHINA — Mallory Chamberlain shut out the opposing offense, allowing just seven hits to secure the victory for Erskine, 6-0 over Leavitt.

Tina Boucher contributed three hits on offense for the Eagles (7-9). The Hornets committed eight errors on the day to aid Erskine’s efforts.

Olivia Bubier led the bats for Leavitt (9-6), stroking a double on one of her two hits.

Monmouth 5, Oak Hill 1

MONMOUTH — Becky Bryant went the distance on the mound and Moumouth used eight hits to take down Oak Hill with a 5-1 victory in an MVC softball game Monday.

The Mustangs scored five runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Shannon Buzzell had two hits for Monmouth and Oak Hill’s Kayla Veilleux doubled.

Brewer 17, Lewiston 0

LEWISTON — The Witches pitching proved to be too much to handle, as Brewer cruised to a 17-0 victory over Lewiston in softball action on Monday.

Sophomore’s Meg Davis and Ally Chapman combined to throw five innings while allowing just one hit for Brewer (11-5). Maddy Bailey reached base on all four occasions at the plate, walking three times and picking up a hit.

Meghan Girouard chipped in the lone hit for the Blue Devils, as they drop to 1-15 on the season.

Girls’ Lacrosse 

Messalonskee 15, Lewiston 14

FAIRFIELD — A strong second half comeback swung momentum into overtime for Messalonskee to close the game out with a  15-14 over Lewiston in girls’ lacrosse action.

Sydney Gagne led the scoring affair for Messalonskee with four goals. The Eagles improve to 8-3 on the season with the win. Sierra Thistlewaite notched a game-high six goals for the Blue Devils. Lewiston’s goalkeeper Sam Cote turned back 20 shots in net, as they move to 7-5 to close out their season.
