1933 – 2014
AUBURN — Germaine C. Dostie, of Pownal Road in Auburn, went home to be with the Lord and in the arms of her loving husband, Gerard, on Monday, June 2.
Born in 1933, in Auburn to Leon and Florienne (Duchette) Giguere, she married Gerard Albert Dostie on April 7, 1951.
She was special to many who have had the chance to have known her. She was a loving wife, companion, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.
She raised her family in New Auburn and owned Gerry’s Market with her late husband. She was known for her hot Spanish peanuts and homemade candy.
She was a member of St. Louis Church, where she was baptized, married and then guided her children to follow the Lord.
She is survived by her six children, Gerald Dostie and wife, Jackie, Diane Steward and husband, Gil, Linda Bourgoin and husband, Dan, Lisa Dostie and companion, David Day, Roger Dostie and Gene Dostie and wife, Tricia, all of Auburn. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Anita Smith and husband, Michael, of Lewiston; her special dog, Bud; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband and children, Paul and Marie; as well as four brothers and two sisters.
A special thank-you to her companion and best friend of 22 years, Henry Berube, whose care and companionship was a true blessing to our Mom and our family, as well as his two sons for loving our Mom. Your love for our Mom and her sense of adventure and travel contributed to the longevity of our Moms’s life; she loved winters in Hobe Sound, Fla.
We would also like to thank Caryn, her hospice nurse who was a godsend, who met all her needs as well as ours; the Hospice House, for giving our Mom the dignity she deserved, as well as Clover Manor for your care and compassion.
Mom, may you fly with Angels …
