LEWISTON — Lewiston Adult Education has announced the course schedule for the summer.

Day and evening courses will be available for members of the community interested in finishing their high school diploma, gearing up for college or building skills for a new job. Classes start in late June and early July and meet at Lewiston High School, unless otherwise noted.

Computer/office skills courses will include “Advanced MS Word,” “Business Writing,” “MS Excel I,” “MS Excel II,” “MS PowerPoint” and “Wordpress for Beginners.” Most of these courses count as credit toward Lewiston Adult Education’s clerical, medical office and accounting assistant certificates.

Other certificate courses will include the “Culinary Arts Certificate” and a “Certified Nursing Assistant” (CNA) training course.

Academic classes that offer high school diploma credit as well as college/nursing school prerequisite credit will also be available, including “Algebra,” “Applied Algebra,” “Chemistry” and “Critical Reading Strategies for College or Work.”

HiSET prep courses (formerly GED), English for Speakers of Other Languages, Citizenship and Adult Basic Education classes will also be available and will be held at the Adult Learning Center, 145 Birch St.
