SALEM, Mass. — A Lynn elementary school teacher has been sentenced to up to three years in jail for striking her estranged husband’s girlfriend with her car, breaking the other woman’s leg.

Kimberly Ann English of Swampscott pleaded guilty Wednesday in Salem Superior Court to charges including armed assault to murder for the attack last September.

Prosecutors say the 50-year-old English drove her car onto the sidewalk as the victim was unloading groceries, struck her, and then drove away.

The Daily Item of Lynn reports that English apologized to the victim in court.

The victim told the judge she has accrued $65,000 in medical bills, underwent extensive surgery that inserted bolts, pins and plates into her legs and feet, and still suffers pain.

English’s attorney said his client has mental health issues.
