On June 10, Buckfield residents have an opportunity to weigh in on some important choices, both state-wide and in our town. A vote on the Withdrawal Committee decision made last June is one of them.

A “yes” vote means to stop the withdrawal process. A “no” vote means that the work of the committee is to continue. Presently the committee is leaning toward a plan to tuition Buckfield grades 7-12 students to RSU 52 (Turner, Leeds and Greene). Possibly, Buckfield elementary school children would be tuitioned to the Hartford-Sumner School.

Regarding the election of a school board member, I support the return of Jerald Wiley to the RSU 10 board. He has served this town as a school board member for many years. He has gained respect and appreciation for his excellent leadership, depth of knowledge and astute problem solving nature. It is vital to return him to his seat on the RSU 10 board.
