1915 – 2014
LEWISTON — Peter Kiskunas, 98, of 100 Campus Ave., Lewiston, died Monday, June 2, at the d’Youville Pavilion.
Born in Lithuania on July 1, 1915, he was the son of Juozapas and Salomeia Bukis Kiskunas. He was educated in Lithuanian schools. In 1949, he came to the U.S., joining his uncle Kazimar “Charles” Bukis in Lewiston.
On Sept. 3, 1966, he married the former Lauretta Pinard LeBlanc at the Lithuanian Franciscan Monastery in Greene. Lauretta passed away on Dec. 26, 2005.
Peter worked in the winding room of Bates Manufacturing for 29 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the former St. Patrick’s Parish.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Jacqueline Small and husband, Richard, of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; son-in-law, Robert Fontaine of Lewiston; seven stepgrandchildren; 15 great-stepgrandchildren; five great-great-stepgrandchildren; and several cousins and nieces in Lithuania.
Besides his beloved wife of 39 years, he was predeceased by his parents; two sisters; three brothers; and a stepdaughter, Patricia Fontaine.
The family thanks Cecile Mathieu for all the care and attention she gave Peter during his final years.
