RUMFORD — A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Rocco “Rocky” John Salatino, of Rumford, was conducted at noon on Friday, June 6, at Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church in Rumford, with the Rev. Greg Dube as celebrant.

Organist was Nicholas Puiia III, altar assistant was Bernard Poirier and the altar boy was Timothy Falso, a grandnephew. Music selections included “Fly Like a Bird,” “You Raise Me Up,” “Because the Lord is My Shepherd,” “Ave Maria,” “I Can only Imagine” and “Wind Beneath My Wings” by the choir and special soloist, Tammy Burgess, as well as taps.

Readings from the Old Testament were given by family friend, Tracy Arsenault, and the New Testament by nephew, Chad Salatino. Prayers of the Faithful were pronounced by his goddaughter, Bethany Mayo. The eulogy was given by his daughter, Roxanne Gorham; family member, Joe Gorham; and close friend, Neil Sorensen, who read the poem, “Ascension.” Gifts were presented by his grandson, Alex Gorham, and friend, William Sorensen.

Pallbearers were Alex Gorham, Jim Bernard, Bruce Clark, Joe Salatino, Jim Salatino, Pat Gorham and Dicky Austin.

A reception followed at the Sons of Italy hall in Rumford. Arrangements were under the care of Meader & Sons Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., P.O. Box 537, Rumford, ME 04276.
