The newly organized Hikari chamber ensemble members carry long-established international reputations. Of this duo, Anderson is currently performing as cellist of the Cassatt String Quartet, The Hikari Piano Trio, and VC3, a cello trio. She was formerly cellist of the Naumburg Award-winning Meliora Quartet, and assistant principal cellist with the New York City Opera Orchestra. She has recorded for Nonesuch, Telarc, (Mendelssohn Octet with the Cleveland Quartet) and RCA; she is also a performer of North Indian classical music as a cellist and vocalist.

Her newest CD, “Latifa Noor” includes improvisations on Indian Raga for cello and voice. Anderson holds dual Bachelor of Music degrees from California State University at Sacramento and the Juilliard School, and a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music. Former teachers include Leonard Rose, Paul Katz, Steven Doane, Yo-Yo Ma and Jacqueline Du Pre. Anderson is on the faculty of RiverArts Music Program in Hastings, New York, and was assistant professor of cello at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Anderson also loves cooking for her husband Dale and son David, walking her basset hound Lucy, and leading an Interfaith- Sufi meditation and chanting circle.

Pianist Funahashi has been a guest artist at numerous chamber music festivals and has performed in Japan, Australia, Canada, throughout Europe and in many of the major halls in the U.S. including the Kennedy Center, the Music Center in Los Angeles, and Orchestra Hall in Chicago. She is co-director of the Maine Mountain Chamber Music and is a member of the Hikari Trio and the Festival Chamber Music Society in New York City. She has collaborated with the Verdehr Trio, the Brentano String Quartet and the Cassatt String Quartets and has recorded for Musical Heritage Society and John Marks Records. Funahashi received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Juilliard School. She is on the faculty of Colby College.
