1954 – 2014

LEWISTON — Joann R. Bennett, 60, a resident of Leeds, passed away on Saturday, June 7, at Central Maine Medical Center after a long illness, with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Lewiston on Feb. 24, 1954, a daughter of Richard and Rita (Baril) D’Amour. She worked several jobs during her life, including Liberty Mutual and owning her own business, Precious Pet Grooming. She was most proud of her job as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service, from which she retired due to ill health.

On Oct. 18, 1986, she married Andrew R. Bennett. They had 28 wonderful years together and raised a son.

Joann enjoyed fishing, quilting, reading and spending all possible time with her family while taking care of her various dogs, including her latest, Rusty and Sophie.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew; her son, Lorne Richard; her mother, Rita D’Amour; her sister, Jill Malesiewski and her husband, Daniel; and her special niece, Danielle.

Joann was predeceased by her father, Richard; sister, Joline Moody; and her father-in-law, Roland Bennett.

The family would like to sincerely thank all those who cared for her, especially Ann, Mary and Katie. Joann was a warm, wonderful person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
