1931 – 2014

SOUTH PARIS — John A. Hathaway, 82, of South Paris, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 9, at his residence, with his loving family at his side.

John was born in Rumford on June 18, 1931, a son of Lester and Ismay Jackson Hathaway, and graduated from Woodstock High School. He owned and operated The Maine Idea Antiques for many years.

John married Althea Rogers on June 13, 1953, and they made their home in South Paris for seven years, coming from Bryant Pond.

Besides his wife, John is survived by two daughters, DiAnne Ward and her husband, Wyatt, of Albany and Joy Shaw and her husband, David, of South Paris; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a special son, T. Leighton and his wife, Sharon, of Gilead.

He was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice Judkins; and three brothers, Terance, Ellsworth and Alton Hathaway.
