FARMINGTON — RSU 9 has postponed its search for a new principal for Mt. Blue High School and the coordinator of Mt. Blue Campus until December. Assistant Principal Bruce Mochamer of Farmington will serve as interim principal and coordinator for the next school year, Superintendent Tom Ward said Tuesday.

He will replace Monique Poulin, who is leaving at the end of June to become principal of Skowhegan Area High School.

The school board’s Administrator Evaluation Committee began to review the 10 applications received for the position, but agreed it was best to stop the search and go with an interim principal and coordinator, Ward said.

“We have invited all applicants to reactivate their applications when we resume the search in December,” he said. “The timing of this search has not allowed us to have a large enough pool of experienced candidates for us to feel we have done a thorough enough search in finding the best candidate to lead Mt. Blue Campus into the future. We are very pleased that our present Assistant Principal, Bruce Mochamer, has agreed to be the interim principal/campus coordinator for the 2014-15 school year.”

Mochamer was hired in 2013 to replace Randy Cook as assistant principal. Cook retired after working 42 years with the school district.

Mochamer, a Lewiston native, is a veteran educator and administrator with approximately 30 years of experience. He previously taught science at both Mt. Blue Middle School and Skowhegan Area Middle School. He served as assistant principal and principal at the latter school before taking the high school position in Farmington.
