Photographs by Lisa Davis and Roger Belanger are on display in the main lobby at CMMC, near the 60 High Street entrance.
Belanger is a U.S. Navy veteran who began working as a photographer while serving aboard aircraft carrier U.S.S. Kearsarge during the Vietnam War. He later attended photography school and was assigned to the Combat Camera Group, an elite photography unit. He worked with different branches of the military, photographing military exercises, relief operations, and secret military development programs.
Belanger now limits his work primarily to nature. Using a digital camera, he attempts to complete all compositions and corrections at the time of exposure, rather than with computer applications.
Davis, an emergency nurse at CMMC, is a self-taught photographer who “enjoys photography as a hobby and as a way of connecting with nature. Photography is a great way to escape the stresses of the world by just concentrating on your subject. Many of my images are taken from my home … or from my kayak on various small rivers and streams. Some are taken from fields that are rich with birds and butterflies,” Davis said.
The artwork on display may be purchased through the WHA Gift Shop.
