Ardeen “Dean” Ayer was born on June 13, 1934, in Lewiston, to Carroll and Eleanor (Daggett) Ayer. He was one of eight children.

He graduated from Southern Maine Vocational College, with a major in electronics, in 1955.

Dean carried the Kennebec Journal as a young carrier during his early years in North Monmouth.

He married Virginia (Fayle) Ayer of Manchester on June 25, 1955, and they have three children, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dean is retired from North Electric/ITT Powersystems Div.

He enjoys fishing, woodworking, gardening and will celebrate his special day with a family get-together.
