NORWAY — Keith Ludden, the director of Oral History and Folklife Research, Inc., will present a program on oral history at the Norway Historical Society’s June 17 meeting. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Mark P. Smith house, at the corner of Main and Whitman streets.

There are few things more valuable than human experience and human perspective; learning about how we perceive the events that have shaped our communities. Gathering that valuable perspective helps strengthen our communities and families.

The program will discuss the value of conducting oral history in communities and introduce Oral History and Folklife Research to the Norway community. It will include a discussion of the elements of oral history, and excerpts from interviews collected by Ludden and OHFR Associate Director Molly Graham.

OHFR is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the stories, voices and cultural traditions of Maine and beyond.

The mission of the Norway Historical Society is to bring people together to share, celebrate and learn about Norway’s heritage, by collecting, caring for and exhibiting Norway’s historical treasures; by facilitating the collection of and research into family and local history and by providing programs that make our history meaningful.
