LIVERMORE — Voters approved a $1.3 million municipal budget for 2014-15 Wednesday night during the annual town meeting.

The amount is $78,270 more than this year’s budget.

Residents also agreed to lease the Brettuns Community Building to Friends of Livermore, a nonprofit organization, for $1 per year for 99 years, interim Administrative Assistant Renda Guild said Thursday.

All of the costs associated with upkeep and maintenance are the group’s responsibility. Friends of Livermore formed earlier this year to take care of the building, originally built as a schoolhouse in 1915, and to make it eligible to obtain grants and raise funds to make improvements so the community can use it more.

Town officials and residents also thanked Selectperson John Wakefield for his 40 years of dedication to the town. He served as a representative on the RSU 36 school board for 27 years and approximately 14 years on the Board of Selectpersons.

Wakefield didn’t seek re-election this year. Wednesday was his last meeting.

Board Chairperson Megan Dion thanked him for his service and for his help and the wealth of knowledge he shared with the board.

Wakefield thanked the townspeople for giving him the opportunity to serve the town.
