LEWISTON — State police charged a 60-year-old sex offender from Poland on Wednesday with possessing child pornography.
The Computer Crimes Unit arrested Deland E. Small, 60, of 187 Johnson Hill Road at his workplace in North Yarmouth on a charge of possessing sexually explicit material, according to a statement released by Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland.
Small was taken to the Cumberland County Jail where he was held Thursday afternoon in lieu of $2,500 cash bail.
Detectives seized his computers last month at his home and found dozens of images of child porn, according to the statement.
Small was convicted in 2003 of unlawful sexual contact with a child, served time in jail and was required to be on Maine’s sex offender registry for 10 years. He was taken off the registry in the fall of 2013.
