1919 – 2014

FARMINGTON — Lendall A. Drown, 94, of Jay, died Wednesday evening, June 11, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Dixfield on Nov. 24, 1919, a son of Percy and Mina (Durrell) Drown, and received his education in Dixfield schools. He later attended Bliss Business School. Lendall was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, having served in various locations around the world during World War II.

On May 22, 1942, he married Clara M. Wright in Auburn; she died May 13, 2011.

He owned and operated Savage’s Garage in Dixfield for many years. He and his wife later lived on Damariscotta Lake, where he also worked rebuilding starters and alternators, before moving to Jay in 1982.

He enjoyed woodworking, reading and fishing, and was always looking out for the well-being of his loved ones.

He is survived by his daughters, Maxine Wyman and her husband, Milford, of North Jay and Blinda Burgess and her husband, Bill, of Quincy, Mass.; a granddaughter, Dawn McArthur and her husband, Ralph, of Farmington; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Evan, Elliot, Emily and Erica, all of Farmington, and Brandon of Ashland; one great-great-granddaughter, Taylin; and several nieces.

He was predeceased by a son, Wayne; a daughter, Donna; grandchildren, Michael Wyman and Wendy Wyman; and brothers, Cleston, Bayne and Cleo.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Edgewood Rehabilitation Center in Farmington and the third floor nursing staff and the physicians at Franklin Memorial Hospital for the tremendous care Lendall received prior to his passing.
