1923 – 2014

PORTLAND — Dana S. Eames, 91, of Wilton, passed away Saturday, June 14, at Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Newry on April 27, 1923, a son of Ernest and Eva (Thompson) Eames. He was raised by Charles and Carlene Thompson Sidell. Dana attended school in Norridgewock and then served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European and Pacific theaters from 1943 to 1946. He married Beverly Mosher on Aug. 19, 1944.

Dana started as a millwright for G. H. Bass Co. in 1946 and retired as plant maintenance supervisor in 1984. He was also a master plumber. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW, and a member of the Elks, AMVETS and the Eagles Club.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and socializing with his many friends. He was dedicated to his family and enjoyed sharing special times together. He was the type of person who was always doing things for others in need.

Surviving him is his wife of almost 70 years, Bev; two daughters, Bronia Koch of Tucson, Ariz., and Janet Johnson and her husband, David, of Waterboro; three grandsons, Ethan Johnson and his wife, Allyson, D. Aaron Johnson and his wife, Kelley, and Jonathan Johnson and his wife, Faye; eight great-grandchildren, Matthew, Kylie, Zachary, Samuel, Hayden, Andrew, Benjamin and Charlotte; two brothers, Clayton Sidell of St. Albans and Raymond Sidell of Madison; a sister, Virginia Kalkofen, of Alabama; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Lila Brown, Mary Lou Berry and Eleanor Stevens; and five brothers, Robert, Carl, Harold, Everett and Rodney Eames.
